Why books were mentioned in Acts 19:19?
When I was a new believer, I was not tuned to hear from the Holy Spirit, many things in the Bible I wasn't able to understand, I will look up commentaries if any verses in the Bible I couldn't understand. I thank God He led me to the correct way of reading His Word, always read from the Bible, if can't understand then look up others input.
As time past, I hardly read from any other materials except the Bible itself. The Word is so rich and alive, I hardly had anytime for books other than the Bible.
The above revelation that I share came three weeks ago. I was not at ease to share, worried many might feel offended but I fear God the more, no way I can run from what He had called me to do.
As mentioned, this is part of our journey in our walk with God. Know our main dish (read direct from the Bible). We are given the Word and the Holy Spirit who work hand in hand to show us the Way, the Truth and the Life, the constant. Receive direct from God, hear Him directly rather through third party. Each receive our own portion in our season. Others portion might not have the fullness of what we need for our season. Only God can answer to each of our different needs in our season.
