What does forty means in the Bible? And why thirty-nine?

When the Bible uses the word 'forty', it usually refer to a complete phase of life, a phase of life come to an end, a completion, an end.

Example, forty years in wilderness, forty [times] smitten..

A wrong-doer will have a sentence of forty [times] - full payment if found guilty.  The Judge (God, only God can judge as mentioned in earlier blog) will caused him to fall down and smitten in His presence, according to the wrong doing, by number (believe it is the number of times he is forgiven according to the wrong doing before judge him guilty; e.g. Solomon was given 3 chances to repent).  Once judge guilty, it is full sentence (smite forty times)

YLT Deu 25:1-3:
1 `When there is a strife between men, and they have come nigh unto the judgment, and they have judged, and declared righteous the righteous, and declared wrong the wrong-doer,
2 then it hath come to pass, if the wrong-doer is to be smitten, that the judge hath caused him to fall down, and [one] hath smitten him in his presence, according to the sufficiency of his wrong-doing, by number;
3 forty [times] he doth smite him -- he is not adding, lest, he is adding to smite him above these -- many stripes, and thy brother is lightly esteemed in thine eyes.  (Heb 6:6)

Why Paul is not judged in full?

YLT 2Cor 11:24:  from Jews five times forty [stripes] save one I did receive;

The origin meaning of the word 'Jews' means 'he shall be praised'.

Paul praised God for the five times forty [stripes] save one that he did receive.

Why?

It is the grace of God.

Forty times is a full sentence, means no room for repent, pardon.

If not for the mercy of God, Paul would not be able to repent and completed the five phases of his life.  He was given the chances to repent, to carry his cross.


Abba Father,

I Thank You for Your grace toward me, Thank You for the chances for me to repent and answer my calling as per Your will.

Guide my heart, my soul and my mind to focus on You, Your ways, my calling.

By Jesus stripes I am healed and made whole in Jesus Name Amen.

It costs the Father, His only Begotten Son, to send you this invitation to be His beloved child, that you be part of His Family, call Him 'Father'.

Why books were mentioned in Acts 19:19?

Paul was disallowed to get involve in the stir, it is part of our growing process in our walk with God. When I was a new believer, I was not tuned to hear from the Holy Spirit, many things in the Bible I wasn't able to understand, I will look up commentaries if any verses in the Bible I couldn't understand.  I thank God He led me to the correct way of reading His Word, always read from the Bible, if can't understand then look up others input. As time past, I hardly read from any other materials except the Bible itself.   The Word is so rich and alive, I hardly had anytime for books other than the Bible. The above revelation that I share came three weeks ago.  I was not at ease to share, worried many might feel offended but I fear God the more, no way I can run from what He had called me to do. What did we miss? (1Chr 17)

This is a very important message, a reminder to consult God even if we are called a prophet.  No one know God's plan except God the Father Himself. YLT Mar 13:32 `And concerning that day and the hour no one hath known -- not even the messengers who are in the heaven, not even the Son -- except the Father. This is the 2nd time recorded, Nathan the prophet did not consult God before he reply David (2Sam 7), and after the second time God corrected him, no more word from him was heard of.   We all are given chance to repent, do learn from every correction.
