How God value gifts?
YLT 1Kin 3:5: "5 In Gibeon hath Jehovah appeared unto Solomon, in a dream of the night, and God saith, `Ask -- what do I give to thee?`"
God appeared to us when we at peace, at rest, on sabbath because this is the time we are in a position to hear Him, to receive from Him.
In any time, if we find no peace, pray in tongue, sing worship song to bring us into peace, into rest to hear Him, receive from Him.
I will continue to share what's recorded in 1Kin 3 and 2Chr 1, what we can pickup about God's value, God's way.
What would you ask for if God appeared to you and said,
`Ask -- what do I give to thee?`?
YLT 1Kin 3:9: "9 and Thou hast given to Thy servant an understanding heart, to judge Thy people, to discern between good and evil; for who is able to judge this Thy great people?`"
YLT 2Chr 1:10: "10 now, wisdom and knowledge give to me, and I go out before this people, and I come in, for who doth judge this Thy great people?`"
Here we see Solomon's heart is to judge God's people both in 1Kin 3 and 2Chr 1.
Even God corrected him in 1Kin 3:11, rephrase his request to align to His, 'discernment to understand judgement', we see that Solomon didn't repent (2Chr 1:10)
YLT 1Kin 3:11: "11 and God saith unto him, `Because that thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thee many days, nor asked for thee riches, nor asked the life of thine enemies, and hast asked for thee discernment to understand judgment,"
If we compare the two chapters, the sequence of the gifts mentioned in 1Kin 3:13 and 2Chr 1:12 in God's answers to Solomon are different.
Why?
It's related to what's with Solomon's heart.
It is his heart that determine why God answered differently.
YLT 2Chr 1:11 And God saith to Solomon, `Because that this hath been with thy heart, and thou hast not asked riches, wealth, and honour, and the life of those hating thee, and also many days hast not asked, and dost ask for thyself wisdom and knowledge, so that thou dost judge My people over which I have caused thee to reign --
YLT 1Kin 3:11 and God saith unto him, `Because that thou hast asked this thing, and hast not asked for thee many days, nor asked for thee riches, nor asked the life of thine enemies, and hast asked for thee discernment to understand judgment,
In 1Kin 3:11 Solomon asked as what's with his heart, like a child who speak what's on their heart.
But not in 2Chr 1:11;
Riches, wealth, and honour, and the life of those hating him, and also many days which are with his heart he hast not asked.
Solomon ask for 'himself' wisdom and knowledge, so that he dost judge God's people over which God have caused him to reign --
Our God is the all knowing God.
1Kin 3:11 listed God's order of gifts in its value
- many days, riches, the life of his enemies. And non of these gifts are for self. An affirmation on revelation about gifts.
Whereas in 2Chr1:11, the gifts are listed as per Solomon's heart
- riches, wealth, honour, the life of those hating him, many days (riches is not wealth). Solomon place the most valuable gift in God's list to the last in his list. His heart not aligned with God's.
Note what God put last on His list is to have the life of Solomon's enemies but Solomon's list is to have the life of those hating him and it is not the last in his list.
If Solomon be the judge, who is more merciful? God or Solomon?
1Kin 3:13 and also, that which thou hast not asked I have given to thee, both riches and honour, that there hath not been like thee a man among the kings all thy days;
The gift of Many days is listed the most valuable but come with a condition, to walk in God's way to keep His statutes, and His commands, as the Beloved - Jesus walked. Solomon shall received this gift if he obey God.
1Kin 3:14 and if thou dost walk in My ways to keep My statutes, and My commands, as David thy father walked, then I have prolonged thy days.`
God gave Solomon both riches and honour in 1Kin 3. Riches and honour are in bundle not separate. Honour goes hands in hands with riches not wealth. Wealth doesn't bring honour.
YLT 2Chr 1:12 the wisdom and the knowledge is given to thee, and riches and wealth and honour I give to thee, that there hath not been so to the kings who [are] before thee, and after thee it is not so.`"
In 2Chr 1:12, God gave Solomon the 1st three gifts listed in his heart beside his request.
The Bible shows us, be it in 1Kin 3 or 2Chr 1, even Solomon didn't obey God, God still answered his request and even blessed him what he didn't ask.
That's the Father's heart, the Father's way as share in previous blog.
Solomon is a type of us who are called to peace.
An important lesson to note, prayer answered does not mean it is aligned with God's will; we need to read our Bible what is aligned with His and what's not. Spend time on the Bible, the Word of God.
To summarize,
◆ Judging God's people is never our duty but His.
◆ What's God valued most is we have many days, secondly - we are rich and honour in Him. The third on His list is His responsibility not ours.
◆ prayer answered not align to God's heart doesn't bring us to the gift of many days - the most valued gift.
◆ always pay attention to God's word, his correction and obey His word.
◆ come to God in peace, to hear Him, to receive from Him.
Abba Father,
I Thank You for the clarity and Your Word, Your love, Your wisdom and Your teaching. Give me that peace and rest always to hear You and receive from You. May judging others never come into my heart and cause me to obey You all the days of my life in Jesus Name Amen.
John 3:16: for God did so love the world, that His Son -- the only begotten -- He gave, that every one who is believing in him may not perish, but may have life age-during."
